My progress on the Blackfriars

Well, it doesn’t look like a lot, but I’ve put a lot of work into the Blackfriars since I wrote last.  Its tough because I have only minimal building experience, so this doesn’t come easily for me.  At the same time, though, I really care a lot about it and want everything just right.  So what I lack in skill, I make up for in dedication.  Hence why I’m writing at one thirty in the morning.

I spent the past few hours working on the stage balcony.  It took some time to get it all just the way I wanted it and then lined up on the stage properly.  But it really is coming along well.  I need to find still the right textures for it.  But I’m really quite happy with what I have so far.

The Blackfriars

I haven’t written in some time.  Heck, I only wrote one post.  Since then, I finished a couple of Greek vases, and even built a Greek temple.  I should have written about that and put in some pictures.  Perhaps I will in the future.  I’ve started out, though, on a new project.  This is my biggest so far.  I want to re-create the Blackfriars Theater in Second Life.  The Blackfriars Theater was a Jacobean theater that stood 400 years ago inside London city limits and where many of Shakespeare’s (and his contemporary playwrights’) plays were staged.  Others have already built replicas of the Globe in Second Life.  But nobody has built yet the Blackfriars.  Hence, my project.  I’ve been working on it two days thus far.  Here is an image of where I stood after two evenings of work:

I don’t even want to talk about how many prims I’ve used so far.   Eeeeeps.   Don’t tell Danny!

My first post…

Alright. Time to start reflecting. First of all, I live in Second Life. That’s this wicked cool virtual world where you can build anything and become anything you want. Its sweet. You’ll love it. I’ve been around a few months now, making friends and hanging out, and I recently decided to start doing some building.

I wanted a place to reflect on my building in the world and my designs and decided a WordPress blog seemed perfect. So here I am, introducing myself, telling you what to expect and all. Soon, I’ll talk in here about what I’ve created and include lots of images and stuff so you can check it all out.

The last few days I’ve been working on building some antique Greek pottery. I bought this cool starter building set from SLX and have been working on applying the textures to make an authentic replica of this old 2,500 year old museum image I found online. I’m very picky about getting all the details just right on this and have been working really hard on it the past couple of days. And I’m still working. I’m new to this so its taking some time, and I really want to get it right. I’ll post again soon as I get it better and include some images and such!
